Kyle Petchock is a freelance illustrator and designer currently living outside of Philadelphia, PA. As a Lycoming College graduate who earned a B.A. in commercial design in the Spring of 2015, Kyle's skills range from illustrations and logo designs, to graphic design and t-shirt art. He has worked on a wide variety of different projects, which include lending his illustration talents to a graphic novel publishing company called Outland Entertainment. In the late summer of 2016 he was even given a surprise opportunity to become a freelancer for the comic book giant known as Marvel Entertainment. Kyle is also currently working for an indie comic book company called Charon Comics and is learning the process behind sequential comic art.
His artistic inspiration is professional Australian illustrator, Patrick Brown. Through the artist funding site called Patreon.com, Kyle discovered and chose to pledge to support his work. In return, he gained new knowledge about the fundamentals of illustration and drawing, as well as winning several fan art contests from Patrick. "I definitely wouldn't be where I am today if it wasn't for him. He taught me so much through Patreon, and my work improved tremendously through everything I learned from him. During an extremely tough time job searching after college, supporting his work was the inspiration that kept me going and allowed me to stick with doing what I love." Kyle got the opportunity to finally meet his artistic inspiration at the New York Comic Con in October of 2016.
"My branded motto is 'Keep Persevering,' which also stands for my initials (KP). More importantly, however, I use this motto to hopefully motivate and inspire other aspiring artists who want to get into the creative industry, because I struggled a ton myself to get where I am now. So it has a special meaning behind it, in that if you keep going and pursue your dream with everything you have, despite rejection, failure and setbacks, eventually you'll be rewarded. That's when you prove to life just how bad you want it, and in doing so you pass the test."
In addition, he has worked on many different logo designs for clients, as well as print ads and promotional materials. His work mediums include the Adobe Creative Suite and Autodesk Sketchbook, paired with a Wacom Cintiq drawing tablet. When he's not being creative, Kyle loves to stay in shape doing CrossFit, try new things, travel, spend time with friends and family, and enjoy the simple things such as watching movies and enjoying a good burger. He is a huge fan of the Marvel Cinematic Universe films and loves the Lord of the Rings series.
